I recently began a new role as an Enterprise Applications Engineer at Latham & Watkins, and nearly three months in, I’m still genuinely excited and grateful for the opportunity.
What initially drew me to this position was the chance to step into an entirely new industry — legal — and apply my background in application engineering in a fresh context. Since joining, the experience has been incredibly rewarding. From the people and team culture to learning new legal applications and understanding the firm’s business processes, every aspect has contributed to my growth. My PowerShell and SQL skills have translated well into this role.
One thing that stands out in particular is how much the firm values its employees. That culture is reflected in both meaningful initiatives and everyday details—from mixer events to well-stocked snack rooms—that enhance the overall experience.
My office is located in Downtown Los Angeles, which has become a highlight in itself. I’ve picked up a new hobby of exploring the area after work—walking through the city, discovering restaurants, shops, and different spots that give the city its character. It’s been a great way to unwind and stay curious outside of work.
I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and growing in both the role and the environment.
